DESIGN

Natalia Ortega doesn’t just design – she redefines what it means to

craft in the modern world. A Spanish industrial designer, she brings a

thoughtful and contemporary approach to traditional craftsmanship.

Known for her unique designs in furniture, objects, and cutlery, Natalia

uses materials like clay, wood, stone, leather, and blown glass,

combining them in ways that highlight both their tactile beauty and

cultural significance. One of her most celebrated projects is BOW,

a groundbreaking collection of candlehorder and chair in iron crafted by

artisans using age-old techniques. Whether working with small local brands or prestigious luxury names

like LOEWE, Natalia seeks to celebrate the diverse artistry found in

Spain, crafting pieces that stand the test of time. In an age where mass

production dominates, her work is a bold statement of what it means

to create with intention, using the tools of the past to shape the future.

Alcova Milano 2026

Braiding is not merely joining; it is the ritual of transforming emptiness into structure, the silence of material into a tangible voice. Braiding is the geometry of touch, a dance in which artisans set the rhythm and matter obeys, bending into an architecture of knots that defies fragility.

The technique of braiding is not nostalgia, but a reclaiming of the value of gesture, patience, and respect for material. It celebrates the pleasure of touch and conversation, a collective longing for the tactile and the unhurried.

Thus, Marlot Baus enters a new current that brings into focus what had receded into the background: pieces that bear witness to our most private and intimate moments.

About the Artisans

Master artisans across Spain

We work with master artisans across Spain — nine in total — to continue evolving materials, merging contemporary design, sustainability, and traditional techniques in every piece.

Each object is individually crafted and hand-finished, resulting in unique variations in texture, tone, and character — no two pieces are the same.

A celebration of craftsmanship and collaboration, the collection reflects Marlot Baus’ ongoing dialogue with craft, expressive design, and material storytelling.
