Microcement Furniture
Microcement furniture from Marlot Baus is handcrafted in Barcelona, made to order, and available in custom sizes. The term covers dining tables, coffee tables, side tables, and desks — each finished with a nine-layer microcement system and built for daily use at home or in contract projects.
What microcement furniture is
Each piece is coated with a complete microcement system: one initial primer, one base layer of microcement, three fine finish layers, and four final coats of waterproof sealer reinforced with flexible mesh. That stack resists liquids and solids under normal use. Every surface is worked by hand, so no two pieces are identical. Tone variation is part of the character of the material. Microcement also changes with the light — it is not the same at noon as at dusk.
The collection
Microcement and wood tables — tops in microcement with wooden bases and legs, made to order.
Round tables — circular tops for dining and living spaces, made to order in the size you need.
Oval and organic tables — elongated and soft-edged forms for rooms where a rectangle would feel rigid.
Desks — work surfaces in microcement for home offices and studios.
Stainless steel pieces — our tables in stainless steel, made in the same Barcelona workshop.
Made to order, made to measure
Every table is made to order in the Barcelona workshop, and made to measure too. You choose dimensions that fit the room you leave around it, the people who sit down, and the light the piece receives. For full custom projects — private pieces or work with architects and designers — see the made-to-measure service. For proportions and seating, use the size guide. To judge colour and finish before you order, request finish samples.
Care and maintenance
Daily cleaning is simple: warm water and mild soap on a soft, damp cloth. Wipe spills as they happen. Avoid placing hot or sharp objects directly on the surface. Avoid acidic liquids such as lemon juice or vinegar. Do not use abrasive cleaners or harsh scouring pads. The final sealer coats give high impermeability against liquids such as coffee, oil, or tomato. Full instructions and a downloadable PDF are in the care and maintenance guide.
Shipping and compliance
Orders ship insured to the US. Wood components are TSCA Title VI compliant. Customs documentation is handled by us. Each piece leaves the workshop in ~4 weeks. For larger or trade work, see contract and trade projects.
