A Collaboration Born from Craft
TRENZAR is the collaboration between Marlot Baus and Alcova Milano 2026, presented during Milan Design Week. The word trenzar — to braid — describes both the technique at the heart of the project and the broader idea of weaving together disciplines, materials, and hands.
The Venue
The installation was hosted at the Baggio Military Hospital, in the Casa delle Suore C4 space, from April 20–26, 2026, with a press preview on April 19.
The Concept
TRENZAR explores braiding as a transformative act — what the project calls the geometry of touch. It brings together the surface material expertise of Marlot Baus with the work of artisans across Spain working in wood, iron, ceramic, silver, embroidery, blown glass, and wicker.
The Makers
The collaboration was led by Laura García, founder of Marlot Baus, together with Natalia Ortega of Worn Studio. Nine artisans from Spain contributed work across seven disciplines, making TRENZAR one of the most cross-disciplinary Spanish presentations at Alcova.
Natalia Ortega is an industrial designer known for her project BOW and for collaborations with LOEWE. Her work focuses on the intersection of traditional craft techniques and contemporary industrial design.
Second Year at Alcova
2026 marked the second consecutive year that Marlot Baus presented at Alcova Milano, confirming a growing presence in the international design calendar.
